Fresco by Nonna: A Hands-On Kosher Culinary Experience in Rome

Introduction

Finding a truly hands-on kosher cooking experience in a European capital can be challenging. However, during our family trip through Italy, we discovered a gem in Rome. A morning spent in a Trastevere kitchen making pasta from scratch turned out to be one of the trip’s highlights.

About Fresco by Nonna

Fresco by Nonna, run by Neman Collection, offers an authentic Italian cooking experience tailored for kosher travelers. With its focus on real Italian technique, hospitable hosts, and kosher-friendly food, it’s a must-visit.

A Warm Welcome

Located in the picturesque Trastevere district, known for its cobblestone lanes and ivy-covered walls, Fresco by Nonna instantly feels like home. Upon arrival, host Nofar Kashi treated us to fresh bruschetta and coffee, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

Cooking Roman Jewish Cuisine

Under the guidance of a skilled chef, we crafted pasta dough from scratch, learning traditional techniques. We made both ravioli and fettuccine, which were cooked in delicious sauces that showcased Roman Jewish cuisine, featuring local ingredients like Roman artichokes. The workshop also included preparing a fresh salad and a classic tiramisu, with everything made from scratch.

Dining Experience

After cooking, we enjoyed our creations at a beautifully set table, sharing a meal that we prepared ourselves. This experience is more than just a cooking class; it’s a delightful dinner served in a celebratory atmosphere. To top it off, we enjoyed homemade limoncello, concluding our evening on a joyous note.

Why You Should Visit

Fresco by Nonna is more than a meal; it’s an engaging activity suitable for couples, families, and groups. It seamlessly fits into your Rome itinerary, especially for those exploring the Jewish Ghetto. With genuine kosher certification and delicious food, it’s an experience you won’t forget.
