A liquor store in Norco, California, has become the center of attention after Mary Higelin purchased a scratch-off ticket worth $20 million, the largest possible prize in the California Lottery’s Set for Life Millionaire Edition. This win makes her the fourth person in the state to achieve such a milestone.
For every winning ticket sold, CN Liquor, where Higelin bought her ticket, will receive a bonus of about $100,000. This week also saw two other $10 million winners and a $2 million winner from other games. In total, four winners combined for $42 million in prizes.
The California Lottery has witnessed considerable luck in the past year, including a record-setting $2.04 billion Powerball jackpot that had a still-anonymous winner in southern California. The owner of the ticket-selling business, Joe Chahayed, however, publicly expressed his happiness and plans to support his family and community with his share of the bonus.
