Peter Thiel’s ‘Secret Society’: A Shift in Elite Power from Bilderberg to Dialogue

The Allure and Influence of Secret Societies in Power Structures

Secret societies have long fascinated those in power and provoked the public’s imagination. The recent leak involving Peter Thiel’s “secret society” serves as a stark reminder of a new elite class emerging in our socio-political landscape. This incident exposes not just the existence of the group, but the implications of its revelation.

The Tradition of Secrecy in Elite Circles

While I may not be well-versed in the political climates of countries like China or India, a tradition of creating secretive societies exists firmly within Western elite circles. These societies aren’t necessarily completely hidden; rather, they thrive on maintaining strict confidentiality about their activities and memberships. Although participants’ identities and discussions remain private, their intent is to wield influence over public policy and decision-making.

Historical Insights from Carroll Quigley

Carroll Quigley, a historian and professor at Georgetown University, laid a foundational understanding of such groups in his renowned book Tragedy and Hope: A History of the World in Our Times. He meticulously documented the existence of an influential elite network and its trajectory over time.

The Circle of the Initiates

In 1891, magnate Cecil Rhodes, alongside journalist William T. Stead and key figures like Lord Esher and Alfred Milner, established the “Circle of the Initiates.” While some debate its authenticity due to the group’s secretive nature, it served as an inner circle with the Association of Helpers forming its broader framework.

The Circle aimed to create a clandestine pressure group designed to federate the English-speaking world and bring various global territories under British influence. Their mission was to promote British cultural, legal, and economic frameworks to ensure global stability, perceiving the British Empire as a vehicle for advancing civilization worldwide.

The Shift to Public Engagement

Under Alfred Milner’s leadership, the organization transitioned towards a more public stance through the Round Table movement in 1909. Known as “Milner’s Kindergarten,” this group consisted of young Oxford graduates who took up influential roles across media, academia, and government. Acting as a coordinated cartel, they established Round Table groups within British Dominions to foster deeper political and economic integration between the United States and the British Empire, gradually laying groundwork for a post-national order.

Key Historical Contexts

Two critical elements often overlooked in this narrative are that the group mirrored operational structures similar to the Jesuits, indicating a continuity of influence despite different actors, and that “Milner’s Kindergarten” was formed specifically to aid in the reconstruction of South Africa following the Boer War.

This conflict marked a pivotal moment in political history, signifying the twilight of the 19th century and heralding the tumultuous 20th century. The war was motivated by the ambitions of a newly emerging elite: an oligarchy of international bankers and those wielding wealth from South African resources like gold and diamonds. Through this, an international power structure emerged, somewhat detached from traditional elected governments or monarchies, with “Milner’s Kindergarten” tasked to reshape South Africa according to their privileged interests.

Institutionalizing Collaboration

In 1919, during the Paris Peace Conference, British and American intellectuals pioneered permanent institutions for ongoing collaboration. This led to the establishment of the Royal Institute of International Affairs (also known as Chatham House) in the UK and the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) in the US, initially aligned with the interests of J.P. Morgan and Company.

Subsequent Organizations

Later organizations, like the Bilderberg Group, the Club of Rome, and the Trilateral Commission, followed this influential blueprint. While Milner’s Group aimed to unite the English-speaking world under British dominance, these new entities sought to better integrate Western Europe into the Anglo-American empire as a counterbalance to the Soviet Union.

The European Union was conceived, at least in part, through the influence of these groups, marking a significant shift in geopolitical alignment.

The World Economic Forum

The World Economic Forum, which espouses a more public face, serves a similar function by promoting financial and digital integration under Western influence. The private meetings held at Davos and by organizations like the Bilderberg Group adhere to the Chatham House Rule, allowing participants to share insights while keeping identities confidential.

The Bilderberg Group’s Secrecy Eroded

Founded in 1954, the Bilderberg Group operated largely beyond public scrutiny until the early 2000s, when investigations by journalists like Jim Tucker and Daniel Estulin started to unveil its activities. Estulin’s book, The True Story of the Bilderberg Group, published in 2005, brought additional revelations to light.

While it took roughly 50 years for the public to gain insights into the Bilderberg Group’s operations, it took only about 20 years for the existence of Dialog—a secret society founded by Peter Thiel and Auren Hoffman in 2006—to come under scrutiny.

The Recent Dialog Leak

My skepticism regarding this supposed leak is strong. As reported by Wired, the directory was accessible through the embedded code of dialog.org, which appeared almost empty, allowing anyone who viewed the source code to access it. Given Thiel’s background co-founding PayPal and Palantir, his team has access to top-notch data security, making this apparent oversight puzzling.

It seems much more likely that this leak was orchestrated intentionally to inform the public about Dialog. The presence of such societies often signifies power dynamics, suggesting that their creators have unique agendas. While it could result from incompetence, the lack of effort to conceal this information ultimately conveys a nonchalance towards public awareness.

According to Wired, the directory reveals a diverse array of participants, including officials from the Trump administration, two U.S. senators, six members of the so-called PayPal Mafia, a former Middle Eastern chief of intelligence, and a sitting ambassador to the United States. This highlights a network engaging in off-the-record discussions that range from “How’s Your Sex Life” to “Navigating WWIII,” and showcases a concentrated focus on themes such as artificial intelligence and longevity.

Building Consensus

Organizations like Dialog aim to cultivate a consensus among influential figures across various domains—including media, academia, and government—ensuring that their perspectives are echoed in legislative frameworks, scholarly work, and the businesses that benefit from these arrangements. This model is far from novel.

Implications of the New Elite Class

This situation serves as a revealing indicator of a transformative shift in power. I’ve previously argued that the geopolitical actions and financial strategies we witness today are deliberately crafted to safeguard and advance the interests of a newly formed elite class. This group is redefining finance, governance, surveillance, and many other sectors. With the U.S. stock market valuation hovering around $75 to $80 trillion, and the top ten U.S. companies—largely tech-oriented—accounting for a significant portion, the implications of this new power structure are profound.

Additionally, I have noted that this tightly interwoven oligarchy not only knows but communicates with each other regularly, navigating conflicts and alliances. The recent public exposure of Dialog may signify that its members have taken comfortable positions within this power structure and that rather than evading public scrutiny, they embrace it.

Conclusion

The evolving landscape of power dynamics shaped by such exclusive groups brings crucial questions about transparency and accountability to the forefront. While the existence of secret societies may ripple through the collective psyche, their influence is undeniably woven into the broader social fabric, revealing much about the interests that drive our world.
