Co-founder Laura Milward, who experienced HG during her pregnancy, was inspired to create this product after facing challenges in finding suitable nutrition.
The Inspiration Behind Replenish
Milward struggled with severe nausea and vomiting throughout her pregnancy, often being dismissed by healthcare professionals who attributed her condition to “normal morning sickness.” This led to feelings of guilt and desperation, as she was unable to keep food or drink down. She remarked on the inadequacy of existing pregnancy supplements, noting they did not cater to the needs of women like her, who couldn’t tolerate large capsules or intense flavors.
Product Development
After meeting Laura Moore, a marketing expert, the duo set out to develop Replenish with guidance from a team of professionals in medical, nutritional, and commercial fields. They focused on creating a milder taste, ultimately settling on a mild lemon flavor after extensive taste testing, to ensure it’s more palatable for women experiencing nausea.
Nutritional Benefits
Replenish comes in 28 ml sachets and contains essential nutrients such as glucose, electrolytes (sodium, potassium, magnesium, and chloride), along with vitamins C and B, and methylfolate (the bioavailable form of folic acid). This formulation is designed to replenish nutrients lost due to poor dietary intake during periods of nausea.
Impact and Community Support
Since its launch, Replenish has garnered positive feedback from healthcare professionals, who have shown openness to this innovative product. The founders also partner with the charity Pregnancy Sickness Support (PSS), contributing a portion of profits to support women struggling with pregnancy-related nausea.
Milward expressed surprise at receiving positive testimonials from women with HG, some stating it was the only product they could keep down.
