Google and Believe Team Up for New Music Tools

Believe has teamed up with Google Labs to introduce Flow Music, a new initiative designed for their users. According to Google, Flow Music provides artists with a platform for exploration and innovation, acting as a “creative collaborator” by assisting with lyrics, experimenting with melodies or genres, and even developing new instruments. Importantly, Google does not claim ownership of the original content created using Flow Music.

This innovative set of tools will be accessible to artists, producers, and songwriters utilizing Believe and TuneCore’s services. Google Labs has collaborated with several artists in the development of these tools. As part of this partnership, Believe and TuneCore will choose a select group of artists and producers to engage in weekly meetings with the Flow Music product team, allowing them to provide feedback and shape the future of Flow Music.

This presents a fascinating opportunity to assess the demand for AI-driven ‘creative co-pilot’ tools in the music industry. Many producers and musicians have enthusiastically incorporated generative AI music tools into their creative processes, utilizing them to generate basslines, melodies, or samples to streamline their workflow. The critical question remains: what percentage of artists will integrate this technology into their regular creative routines? Moreover, will the future of generative AI music primarily be as a highly advanced Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) plugin?
