NORTHFIELD, Vt. (WCAX) – This week, the Norwich University Applied Research Institutes secured a significant federal funding allocation of $500,000 aimed at enhancing operational efficiency in Vermont towns.
The primary focus of this initiative is to bolster local governments’ cybersecurity capabilities. With the newly allocated funds, the institute plans to develop the Community Response Empowerment Toolkit, a resource that will enable local leaders to leverage artificial intelligence for tasks such as scheduling and budgeting.
“Our objective is to utilize existing data while minimizing the strain on infrastructure, thus making operations more efficient. Ultimately, this will lead to substantial savings overall,” stated Brian Bradke from the Norwich University Applied Research Institutes.
The Northfield Police Department will be the inaugural organization to implement this innovative program.
