Special Christmas Edition of Economic Prism

As the festive spirit fills the air, we find ourselves reflecting on the importance of connection and transformation. A cherished moment from Charles Dickens’ classic tale, *A Christmas Carol*, encapsulates this sentiment beautifully.

“Running to the window, he opened it and put out his head. No fog, no mist; clear, bright, jovial, stirring, cold; cold, piping for the blood to dance to; golden sunlight; heavenly sky; sweet fresh air; merry bells. Oh, glorious! Glorious!”

“What’s to-day!” cried Scrooge, calling down to a boy in Sunday clothes, who may have lingered around to take in the sights.

“EH?” replied the boy, full of wonder.

“What’s to-day, my fine fellow?” asked Scrooge.

“Why, CHRISTMAS DAY,” the boy responded.

“It’s Christmas Day!” shouted Scrooge to himself. “I haven’t missed it. The Spirits have accomplished it all in one night. They have the power to do anything. Of course they can.”

Indeed, you haven’t missed it. As this iconic scene reminds us, “It’s Christmas Day.”

On this day of redemption and joy, we take a moment to set aside our usual discussions on the economy and financial markets to embrace the warmth of Dickens’ words.

“Scrooge was better than his word. He did everything, and infinitely more; and to Tiny Tim, who did NOT die, he became like a second father. He became as good a friend, master, and person as anyone could hope to find in any good old city, town, or borough in the world.”

“Some laughed at his transformation, but he simply let them be, knowing that whenever goodness prevails, there will always be those who scoff. Rather than dwelling on such negativity, he found joy within his own heart, and that was more than enough.”

“He no longer engaged with Spirits, choosing instead to live by the Total Abstinence Principle. It was said of him that he truly understood how to keep Christmas well, if any man alive possessed that knowledge. May this be said of us all! And so, as Tiny Tim observed, God bless us, every one!”

Merry Christmas!

Sincerely,
