Date: Friday, September 4, 2026 – 8:52 PM

MARIPOSA COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) — A major closure is affecting travel in Mariposa County. Due to the Colorado Fire, Highway 140 currently has only one lane open, with traffic control points from the Yosemite Bug Hostel to Briceburg Road.

County officials are hopeful that the fire will be contained and the road fully reopened by this weekend. This is crucial for allowing tourists to travel smoothly for the upcoming Mariposa County Fair, which kicks off on Friday. Organizers have confirmed that rides and barns are ready to welcome guests.

Fire officials are advising everyone to expect delays and to remain vigilant for fire crews and equipment on the roadway. The fair will run through Monday at the Mariposa Fairgrounds.
