Starting on February 23, 2026, Arkansans have an exciting opportunity to join the Walk Across Arkansas program, a free exercise initiative designed to help individuals and groups develop healthy habits while enjoying the great outdoors.

What is Walk Across Arkansas?

Hosted by the Cooperative Extension Service of the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture, Walk Across Arkansas is a seasonal competition that engages participants in a friendly, group-based exercise challenge each spring and fall. Whether you choose to sign up individually or form a team of three to eight people, the focus is on logging daily minutes of physical activity.

Registration opens on February 23 and runs until March 8, while the program itself lasts from March 9 to May 3.

Bryce Daniels, an extension assistant professor of health for the Division of Agriculture, emphasizes the benefits of participation: “Walk Across Arkansas is a straightforward way to improve your well-being, build healthy habits, and foster connections with others. The spring session provides a great opportunity to reset after winter and get motivated to engage in physical activities with your community.”

In the fall 2025 session, 732 participants from 50 Arkansas counties recorded over 1.6 million minutes of physical activity.
