Orange County deputy rescues family and their dog from floodwaters

Orange County Deputy Performs Heroic Rescue During Flooding

MELBOURNE, Fla. — Deputy Benjamin Hayden of the Orange County Sheriff’s Office is back on flood-rescue duty after previously aiding residents during Hurricane Ian. This time, he helped rescue a dog and its family in the Melbourne area.

The rescue occurred while heavy rainfall resulted in flooding that closed roads and disrupted travel across parts of Brevard County. Deputy Hayden worked alongside the High Water Rescue Team during the operation.

The sheriff’s office released images of Hayden carrying the dog to safety near Lamplighter Village, reminiscent of his previous rescue efforts during Hurricane Ian when he responded to flooding in the Orlo Vista community.

Additional details about the family or the rescue have not been disclosed.
