Kids Who Explore Club links families in St. Louis with a passion for travel.

Discover the Adventure: Kids Who Travel Club

Traveling with kids can be a unique experience full of challenges, but St. Louis mom Amanda Reyna believes it shouldn’t stop families from exploring the world. With her new initiative, the Kids Who Travel Club, Reyna aims to create a community for St. Louis families who love to travel or are eager to start.

The Vision Behind the Club

Reyna, a local travel agent and founder of Sustain the Day Travel Co., developed this idea after her own travel experiences changed with the arrival of her son, who is now almost three. Despite the added complexity of planning trips with little ones, she felt a need for in-person, local support amidst online groups.

“I figured, if it’s something that I’m looking for, maybe other people are looking for it, too,” says Reyna.

The club’s goal is to provide a space where parents can share tips, swap recommendations, and create enriching family adventures, all while building community ties.

Join the Launch Event

The Kids Who Travel Club will kick off with a free, travel-themed happy hour at TotSpot Social in DeMun on Friday, October 16, from 5–7 p.m. Families can look forward to interactive activities inspired by international destinations, encouraging kids to engage in the joy of travel.

More Than Just Travel Planning

While the club will help families plan vacations, it’s also about creating a supportive environment for parents. Reyna envisions quarterly events that celebrate different cultures and offer activities such as food tastings, crafts, and music.

“We welcome families with kids of all ages,” Reyna emphasizes, wanting to ensure that everyone feels included.

Traveling with Young Kids: A Personal Journey

As a mom who has traveled with her child since he was six months old, Reyna understands the hesitations many parents feel about traveling with young children. Her family’s travels include a memorable trip to Portugal, showing that travel can still be rewarding even with a toddler in tow.

By focusing on their son’s interests—like visiting aquariums or parks—the Reyna family found joy in their unique travel experiences.

“It was really nice to just see him be a kid in another place,” she recalls.

Reyna believes that such moments can make travel meaningful, even if children don’t remember every detail years later.

Practical Tips for Family Travel

Through the Kids Who Travel Club, Reyna hopes to share insights on overcoming common travel hurdles, such as:

  • Airport Security: Preparing kids for what to expect.
  • Carrying Gear: Tips for managing equipment needed for young children.
  • Planning Activities: Finding kid-friendly options during layovers or at the destination.

Simple strategies, like involving children in packing or using special travel gear (like an airplane shirt), can ease the travel experience.
