‘World of Love’ Producer Unveils ‘Dog Fight’ at Asian Project Market

Overview of “Dog Fight”

Synopsis:
“Dog Fight” is a dark comedy directed by Ryu Hyunkyung, who also stars in the film. The story follows Minjeong, a woman who loses custody of her dog, Ppoppo, after her breakup with Seungil, her ex-boyfriend of eight years. When Seungil abruptly ends her visitation rights, Minjeong goes to great lengths, impulsively snatching Ppoppo back and diving into a passionate obsession. However, when Seungil claims the dog is dead, Minjeong is devastated until she uncovers the truth—Ppoppo is alive. A chaotic tug-of-war ensues, emphasizing themes of love and possessiveness amid the exes’ battle.

Themes:
Ryu emphasizes that while the film revolves around the custody of a pet, it ultimately probes deeper questions about love and ownership. She showcases the complex dynamics between Minjeong and Seungil, alongside their friend Donghyun, who makes decisions for Minjeong.
