Medvedev Cautions Against Traveling to Europe, Asserts It Is ‘Targeting Russian Citizens’

Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev has cautioned Russians against traveling to Europe due to rising anti-Russian sentiment, which he claims could put them at risk of arrest. His warnings follow the detention of Mikhail Zvinchuk, a pro-war Telegram channel founder, in Montenegro. Medvedev asserted that Europe has effectively declared a hunt on all Russians and emphasized that no guarantees could protect them while abroad.

Moreover, he suggested that Russia should consider detaining Western nationals to bolster its pool for prisoner exchanges, stating, “When living with wolves, one must howl like a wolf.” This comes in the context of previous exchanges that have included the release of Western nationals in return for Russian citizens.

The situation raises concerns about the implications of such exchanges and whether they may encourage further detentions.
