Hurricane Isaias Clears Florida – Power Restoration Progress

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – On October 10, 2026, Hurricane Isaias moved out of Florida, with Duke Energy reporting that approximately 10,000 customers have had their power restored, leaving around 2,200 still without electricity. Restoration efforts are expected to conclude this afternoon.

Todd Fountain, Duke Energy Florida’s storm director, emphasized the effectiveness of recent investments in grid modernization, which have improved outage responses and recovery times. He thanked customers for their patience during the restoration process.

In response to the hurricane, Duke Energy mobilized resources statewide to expedite recovery. Their approach prioritizes safety, starting with addressing public hazards from downed power lines, followed by restoring services to emergency facilities, and ultimately focusing on residential neighborhoods.

Safety Reminders:

  • Always assume all power lines are energized; report hazards promptly.
  • Avoid standing near or driving over downed lines, especially in flood conditions.
