Ukrainian troops allegedly target energy facilities in occupied Mariupol as flames rage in Russia’s Taganrog.

Editor’s Note: This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.

Ukrainian forces targeted energy infrastructure in the occupied city of Mariupol late on September 13, leading to power outages in parts of the city. Reports indicate that a building was struck after Russian air defenses were activated, according to the Telegram channel Exilenova Plus.

In Southern Russia, specifically in Taganrog, fire continued to engulf fuel storage tanks at a military airfield, following an earlier Ukrainian attack. However, the details of these events have not been independently verified by the Kyiv Independent.

On September 12, Ukrainian Security Service (SBU) forces struck multiple targets in Taganrog, including an FPV-drone production facility, oil storage, and a Pantsir-S2 air-defense system, as mentioned by President Volodymyr Zelensky. Eyewitness footage purportedly showed significant fires at an airfield in the area.

On the same night, Ukrainian long-range drones also targeted the Tolyattikauchuk plant in Russia’s Samara Oblast, igniting a fire on the premises. Ukraine has been consistently hitting military infrastructure in Russia and occupied territories to weaken Moscow’s capabilities, although Russian attacks continue in Ukraine.

Earlier on September 13, a Russian drone strike damaged the locomotive of a Kyiv–Warsaw train near Ukraine’s border with Poland. This followed a mass drone attack by Russian forces on September 12, which caused injuries and power outages in western Ukraine, specifically in Volyn and Rivne Oblasts.
