Michael Douglas recently shared in his memoir, “One Helluva Ride,” that the late NBA legend Kobe Bryant frequently visited his wife, Catherine Zeta-Jones, during the early days of their romance. Douglas revealed that Bryant lived near Zeta-Jones in the Pacific Palisades in the late 1990s, just as he and Zeta-Jones were navigating a long-distance relationship.
During this time, Zeta-Jones was establishing her Hollywood career while Douglas resided in New York. Douglas recounted that Bryant often found excuses to drop by Zeta-Jones’ home, humorously noting how many times he “lost his dog.”
Zeta-Jones also reflected on her connection with Bryant, recalling how they first met when his dog wandered onto her property. She noted her surprise at Bryant’s remarkable career trajectory, which led him to win five NBA championships with the Los Angeles Lakers. Both Douglas and Zeta-Jones expressed their heartbreak over Bryant’s tragic death in a helicopter crash in January 2020.
Douglas also touches on their marriage, discussing their challenges, including a brief separation in 2013, and celebrating their enduring love as they approach their 25th wedding anniversary in November 2025.
