The Lehigh men’s ice hockey team, under the leadership of head coach Josh Hand, is experiencing a significant season filled with talent and strong leadership, particularly from senior captains Ted Justicz and Nikolas Cadoret. Hand, who recently surpassed 100 wins, emphasizes the deep care the players have for one another and the pride they take in their program.
Justicz notes that every player contributes to the team’s culture, regardless of title, highlighting the collaborative spirit in the locker room. Cadoret reflects on the unique chemistry of a hockey team and the healthy competition that has emerged as the program grows.
The team recently participated in the prestigious Fall Faceoff Invitational, showcasing their ability to compete with top programs, which has boosted their confidence despite not securing wins at the tournament. Junior forward Jesse Heinberg emphasizes that their experiences extend beyond the rink, reinforcing their close-knit culture.
Moreover, the team is dedicated to community service. Last season, they received the American Collegiate Hockey Association Community Service Award for their involvement in various local initiatives, including volunteering with youth hockey teams and supporting children with disabilities through the Lehigh Valley Polar Bears.
Overall, the Mountain Hawks aim for success both on and off the ice, with the goal of winning the Eastern College Hockey Association Championship while contributing positively to their community.
