Disney is heavily marketing the upcoming Super Bowl, which will air on ABC and ESPN, with a special guest appearance on Dancing with the Stars by Joe Buck, who will be calling the game. Buck won’t be dancing but will serve as a guest judge alongside Carrie Ann Inaba, Derek Hough, and Bruno Tonioli for the Super Bowl night on October 13.
Contestants will perform to songs from previous Super Bowl halftime shows, rather than reenacting plays. Dancing with the Stars is currently in its 35th season and has previously featured sports personalities, with Olympic figure skater Amber Glenn among the competitors this time.
In a push to promote the event, this year’s Super Bowl will also stream on Disney+ for the first time, as ESPN implements a year-long campaign around the game, promising many Disney tie-ins. The connection between the two shows raises the possibility of cross-appearances, like Bruno Tonioli guest-commentating during the Super Bowl.
