In just a few moments, you could become a victim of crime, especially at night when you might not be aware of your surroundings. A family in Gloucester Township experienced this firsthand when a group of thieves targeted their driveway while their cars were left unlocked.
On September 28, just after midnight, five suspects arrived at the home during a rainy night. A video from the Gloucester Township Police shows the group quickly checking three parked vehicles, all of which were left unsecured. Within two and a half minutes, they stole a credit card from one car and attempted to steal another vehicle. While they couldn’t start one car, they successfully drove off in an SUV that had its key fob inside.
Fortunately, the stolen SUV had a tracking system, allowing police to recover it in Philadelphia later. Detectives are currently working on identifying the suspects involved, though no further details are available as the investigation continues.
Police emphasize that this video aims to raise awareness rather than embarrass the victims. They advise the public to always secure their vehicles by locking doors and removing valuables and key fobs, as these criminals often arrive in stolen cars and specifically look for easy targets.
