HBO Max has announced a new drama series based on the 2018 hit film “Crazy Rich Asians,” which will premiere in 2027. This series will pick up after the events of the film, featuring the original cast, including Constance Wu, Henry Golding, and Michelle Yeoh, as well as Ronny Chieng. Co-written by Adele Lim, the show will consist of eight hour-long episodes, providing deeper exploration of the characters and stories from Kevin Kwan’s book trilogy.
While the plot details remain under wraps, the series aims to delve into various perspectives, similar to Kwan’s sequels, “China Rich Girlfriend” and “Rich People Problems.” The film’s success highlighted the importance of representation in Hollywood, and this continuation promises to offer more nuanced storytelling.
