How Did You Get Into Metal?

“I got into metal back in 1999, during the height of nu-metal. Bands like System Of A Down, Korn, and Slipknot captivated me. While my friends fell out of love with it, I dove deeper into the metal rabbit hole, embracing various subgenres.”

What’s the Weirdest Metal Subgenre You’ve Found?

“There are so many quirky subgenres! I find ‘Shrek Metal’ amusing, like the band The Ogre Packet Slammers with their song ‘Stay Out Of My Swamp.’ It’s silly and showcases how diverse metal can be.”

Best Moment with Corey Taylor on Your Food Podcast

“When I had Corey Taylor on Off Menu, I was nervous but managed to keep my cool. I once queued to meet him at Virgin Megastore, nearly wiping him out back then!”

Last Text with Corey

“Corey loves Taskmaster, so our last exchange was probably about that.”

The Most Metal Meal

“I’d say a bloody steak with red wine, topped off with thumbtacks for garnish—though I know some vegan metalheads would disagree!”

Dream Dinner Party Guests

“Definitely Neil Fallon from Clutch and Matt Pike. I regret not getting Ozzy Osbourne on Off Menu. If I could choose anyone, it would be him.”

Thoughts on Holograms

“I find holograms a bit creepy. I’d prefer a real person at the dinner party.”

Meeting Clutch

“I turned down chances to meet Clutch because I didn’t want to embarrass myself. Introducing them at an awards show was enough excitement for me!”

Best Advice from the Lifers Podcast

“Talking to musicians like Lzzy Hale and Dani Filth during the pandemic, we discussed longevity in music. The key takeaway: Stay passionate and ignore transient success.”

Visiting Brian Tatler

“My new show Fresh Hell features routines about turning 40 and toilet brushes. My idea of Hell? An empty room with just your thoughts. Metalheads would vibe with my pre-show playlist!”
