A 29-year-old woman, Nathalie Belizaire, was arrested after allegedly leaving her four children home alone while she took a cruise. She faces four counts of child neglect for not providing adequate childcare during her trip on the Carnival Cruise Line’s Carnival Conquest, which departed on September 25.
Her partner, Lether Bazile, checked on the children after Belizaire mentioned leaving them with their great-grandmother. When Bazile arrived, he found the children unsupervised, hiding in the bathroom. The great-grandmother, Denise Wilkes, stated that Belizaire never dropped the kids off as planned.
Belizaire’s brother also received a text from her asking him to check on the children. She was arrested upon returning to Miami on September 28. Carnival Cruise Line noted that while they escorted a guest off the ship, it was a law enforcement matter unrelated to the cruise itself, and referred any further questions to the authorities.
Belizaire declined to make a statement to police following her arrest.
