Cleveland State Volleyball Heads to Milwaukee for a Two-Match Showdown

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State volleyball team is set to hit the road this weekend for a two-match series against Milwaukee, scheduled for Friday, October 9, and Saturday, October 10. This marks the third weekend of Horizon League play for the Vikings and their second on-the-road venture. Both teams enter the weekend seeking their first #HLVB wins of the season.

Cleveland State remains a standout in the league, leading in service aces with an average of 1.95 per set and a total of 113 aces for the year. Individually, Jazen DeBina spearheads the league in this category, averaging 0.52 service aces per set, totaling 27 aces. DeBina has recorded at least one ace in all but three matches this season, including a season-high of six aces against Coppin State in non-league play.

Vayda Delventhal also shines for the Vikings, ranking fifth in the league with an average of 4.05 digs per set. Recently, she achieved consecutive 20-dig matches and has now reached this milestone six times this season. Delventhal is on track for a significant career milestone, currently accumulating 914 digs as she approaches 1,000 career digs.

Offensively, the Vikings are led by Bryn VanVleet, who averages 2.83 kills per set, while Julia Jozefov boasts the team’s highest hitting percentage at .299.

JeriLynn Koehler made significant strides in the CSU Career Record Book, tying for eighth place with 61 total solo blocks. With just four more blocks, she would become one of the few Vikings with over 65 solo blocks in their career.

Following the weekend matches, Cleveland State will return home for a three-match homestand, facing Youngstown State on October 16 and 17, as well as Oakland on October 22.
