Church to hold pet blessing and memorial service for beloved animals at Rainbow Bridge | News

The “Rainbow Bridge” is a cherished concept for many pet owners, symbolizing a peaceful place for deceased pets awaiting reunion with their human companions. Originating from an essay by Edna Clyne-Rekhy in 1959, the Rainbow Bridge has gained significant recognition over the years.

To honor this sentiment, the Church of the Holy Trinity in Hertford is hosting an animal blessing and memorial at their wooden replica of the Rainbow Bridge. Scheduled for Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., pet owners are invited to bring their animals for prayers of love and good health. This event, taking place shortly after St. Francis of Assisi’s feast day, also allows grieving pet owners to honor their lost pets by attaching collars to the bridge, which has recently been relocated to the church.

Linda Calabro shared her experience of memorializing her two dogs by placing their collars on the bridge. The Rainbow Bridge serves as a comforting reminder for many, a tradition that has evolved significantly since its creation.
