Essential Supplies for Your Pet Emergency Kit

To ensure safety during severe weather, prepare a well-equipped pet emergency kit including:

  • Food and water
  • Veterinary records
  • Medications
  • Leashes, harnesses, crates, or carriers for transport
  • Microchip information

Being prepared can make a significant difference if evacuation becomes necessary. A microchipped pet with updated owner information greatly increases the chances of reunification if separated during an emergency.

Quotes from DACC Officials

“El Niño storms can arrive quickly and create dangerous conditions for people and their pets,” stated DACC Director Marcia Mayeda. “Taking simple steps now, such as preparing an emergency pet kit and having an evacuation plan, can protect the animals you love.”

Chair of the Los Angeles County Board, Hilda L. Solis, also urges residents to stay informed and include pets in their disaster preparedness plans.
