Xbox Secures Exclusive Streaming Rights for GTA 6
A recent report reveals that Xbox has secured exclusive streaming rights for Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6), potentially making it a timed exclusive for Xbox Cloud Gaming. This may be the only avenue for players to experience the game on PC at its launch.
Highlights from the Xbox Town Hall Meeting
During an internal town hall meeting today, Xbox CEO Asha Sharma discussed various topics, including the company’s return to growth and the development of Project Helix—a proposed “family of devices.” Notably, Sharma hinted at a strategic deal for GTA 6, sparking significant interest.
GTA 6 Cloud Gaming Exclusivity
According to a report by Tom Warren on The Verge, Xbox is taking steps that “no other platform holder is doing” by securing exclusive streaming rights to GTA 6 for Xbox Cloud Gaming. This deal would allow Xbox to market its cloud service as the exclusive platform for the game at launch, although the duration of this exclusivity has yet to be clarified.
Comparison with PlayStation Coverage
While there has been considerable focus on PlayStation related to GTA 6, such as enhanced PS5 Pro performance and promotional materials claiming that the game “Plays Best on PS5,” this marks the first significant news regarding Xbox’s involvement with the title. Official announcements remain pending.
