Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery Officially Combine to Form Skydance

The merger between Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery has officially formed a new entertainment entity named Skydance, resulting in a $110 billion deal. This newly combined company brings together extensive assets including CBS, HBO, CNN, various streaming platforms, and major franchises like Top Gun, Harry Potter, and the DC Universe.

David Ellison, Skydance’s CEO, expressed that the merger aims to strengthen competition against industry giants like Disney and Netflix. Skydance plans to produce at least 30 films annually and has a vast library of over 180 television series. The company’s ambition is to foster creativity while also focusing on shareholder value.

Skydance will see operations in over 200 countries, with a projected annual revenue of nearly $70 billion and expected cost synergies exceeding $6 billion within three years. Paramount has also initiated measures to manage substantial net debt, aimed at aiding the merger’s financial stability.

As the company transitions, its shares will begin trading on the New York Stock Exchange, marking a significant milestone in the restructuring of these legacy media companies. CEO Ellison emphasized a future-oriented vision for Skydance, which includes adapting to new media landscapes while also hinting at potential cost-cutting measures to ensure efficiency and growth.
