Celebrating Latinx Heritage Month: Marie Cruz and the Power of Music
This Latinx Heritage Month, we spotlight Illinois State University junior Marie Cruz, who showcases how music can connect us to our memories, cultures, and one another.
As a dedicated music therapy and violin performance student, Cruz aims to assist individuals living with dementia in reconnecting with their memories through music. She is also the founder of the Redbird Mariachi Club, a group that encourages students to explore music beyond traditional classical genres. The club provides a platform for diverse cultural sounds, fostering new musical experiences and community connections.
