VEG ER for Pets Coming to Gaithersburg
Permanent signage has been installed for the future VEG ER for Pets location in Gaithersburg’s Kentlands neighborhood. This development marks significant progress for the emergency veterinary hospital, which is set to occupy a portion of the former Party City space.
While an official opening date has not yet been revealed, current developments suggest that the facility could be operational by the end of the year. Earlier this year, VEG ER for Pets, also known as Veterinary Emergency Group, committed to taking over the largest section of the former Party City at Kentlands Market Square. Since Party City closed its doors in early 2025, the expansive retail area has been divided into three new storefronts.
In the recently opened space, Wonder, a modern food hall concept, has taken one of the spots, while STRONG Pilates is expected to occupy the remaining storefront alongside VEG ER for Pets.
This location will mark the first presence for VEG ER for Pets in Montgomery County. The network of emergency-only veterinary hospitals is known for its unique approach that actively involves pet owners throughout the treatment process. Unlike traditional clinics, VEG facilities feature open floor plans, allowing owners to remain with their pets during examinations, procedures, and surgeries.
VEG hospitals operate 24/7, year-round, with no appointments necessary. Pet owners can walk in anytime or call ahead to speak directly with a veterinarian. The hospitals cater to dogs, cats, and various exotic pets, including birds, reptiles, rabbits, and ferrets.
The company’s emphasis on immediate triage means medical staff often begin evaluations as soon as a pet arrives, sometimes even before completing intake paperwork. Further updates will be provided once the opening date is confirmed.
