Energy Secretary Chris Wright discussed President Trump’s awareness of the potential spike in energy prices due to military action against Iran during an interview on CBS News’ “Face the Nation.” Wright emphasized that Trump believed confronting Iran’s nuclear threat was more important than short-term economic impacts.
He commended Trump’s decision, labeling Iran as “the world’s greatest terrorist regime” and reiterated that a nuclear-armed Iran is unacceptable. Wright noted that rising fuel prices are affecting American households and industries, but expressed optimism about a future decline in prices due to increased energy flow and domestic production.
Wright predicted a drop in diesel prices and highlighted a recent deal with the G7 to release 100 million barrels of fuel. He criticized previous policies that restricted U.S. energy production and defended the strategy to increase domestic supply. Additionally, he addressed the possibility of a diesel export ban, which he opposes, while maintaining that Trump is constantly exploring solutions to reduce energy costs.
