In a heartwarming turn of events, Evergreen High School in Colorado has named its first-ever canine homecoming king and queen: therapy dogs Polenta and Norene. This special recognition comes in response to the emotional support these furry companions have provided to both students and staff following a tragic school shooting last year.

Polenta and Norene have quickly become cherished members of the Evergreen community. They are dedicated to their roles, known for their impeccable attendance and friendly dispositions. According to Amy Wells, the lead counselor, their primary duty is simply to offer comfort: “Their duty is to lie [there] and just be pet and hang out.”
