Lorain Football: Titans Ignite on Senior Night, Secure GCC Victory Against Shaker Heights – Morning Journal

On Lorain’s senior night, the Titans delivered an impressive performance, defeating Shaker Heights 35-0. After struggling with second-half collapses in previous games, the team managed to maintain their energy and focus throughout the entire matchup, buoyed by a lively crowd.

Coach Jeremy Leyva highlighted the team’s strong mindset, especially after taking a commanding 21-0 lead into halftime. The Titans scored again quickly in the second half, effectively controlling the game and taking advantage of Shaker Heights’ reliance on a run-first offense. This shift forced the Shaker Heights team, trailing significantly, into passing situations, which are not their strength.

The defensive players benefited from the offense’s ability to consume clock time, allowing them to perform at their best. Key contributions came from five different players who scored touchdowns. With this win, Lorain improved to 2-5 overall and 1-3 in the Greater Cleveland Conference, while Shaker Heights fell to 1-6.

As they look ahead to their next game against Strongsville, Lorain aims to build on this momentum and make a push for a playoff spot, currently sitting 14th in the Division I Region 1 standings.
