Denver resident receives sentence for theft at Centennial pet store

A Denver man, Timothy Davis, has been sentenced to two years in the Colorado Department of Corrections for his part in the theft of two English Bulldog puppies from a pet store in February 2025. Davis, 39, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit theft and will serve an additional year of parole after his release.

On February 21, Davis entered the Perfect Pets store in Centennial and asked about the puppies’ prices. After being informed that the enclosures required photo ID to open, he feigned a medical emergency, creating a distraction. Meanwhile, his accomplice, Jonathan Muniz, removed the lid of the enclosure, grabbed both puppies valued at over $4,000 each, and escaped. An employee was kicked in the face while trying to stop Muniz.

Surveillance footage confirmed Davis’s role in the planned distraction. Both puppies were later recovered, and Muniz was sentenced to eight years for his offenses, which include robbery and assault, and is not eligible for parole until 2034. District Attorney Amy Padden emphasized the importance of holding individuals accountable for crimes against local businesses and their employees.
