UGA’s Homecoming Carnival Returns with a Bang

The annual Homecoming Carnival at the University of Georgia took place on Thursday, Oct. 1, marking a successful comeback after last year. According to Sanjita Prabhu, the University Union’s special events chair, attendance was nearly double that of the previous year, demonstrating a desire for community engagement.

A Revamped Venue

Hosted at the newly renovated Legion Field, the carnival was accessible and welcoming. Prabhu noted that the new layout made planning much easier and contributed to a more inviting atmosphere.

Festivities and Attractions

Running from 7 to 11 p.m., the carnival featured various attractions including a Ferris wheel, zip line, spinning rides, and carnival games where students could win stuffed animals. Music was provided by students from WUOG 90.5 FM, creating a lively environment.

Community Impact

Aikeem Reason, from Amusement Masters, emphasized the joy of bringing fun to everyone at the event. He shared that despite his own fear of heights, encouraging others to face their fears while enjoying the zip line experience is fulfilling.

UGA students Raliyah Joseph and Eva Binu, both sophomores, expressed their excitement for the carnival, looking forward to both rides and ice cream. Joseph remarked, “This is one of my favorite parts about college and UGA, like the events that they host.”

As the carnival brought together students to celebrate and enjoy fun-filled attractions, it showcased the vibrant spirit of UGA’s community.
