MARION, Iowa — Faith Lutheran Church in Marion hosted its annual Blessing of the Pets Jubilee on Saturday, welcoming both people and their beloved furry—and not-so-furry—companions.
During the event, pets like dogs, cats, hamsters, and reptiles received individual blessings, while attendees were also encouraged to bring stuffed animals or photos of their pets.
Pastor Tom Ogilvie emphasized that the event celebrates the joy pets bring to our lives and the responsibility of caring for them. This year’s celebration coincides with the 800th anniversary of St. Francis of Assisi’s death, who is honored as the patron saint of animals.
