Russia and Cuba are enhancing their cultural and sports collaboration, as stated by Andrey Malyshev, Russia’s Deputy Minister of Culture, and Lizette Martinez Luzardo, Cuba’s Deputy Minister of Culture. This agreement emerged during the 12th St. Petersburg International United Cultures Forum, with discussions taking place in the Russian-Cuban Intergovernmental Commission for Trade, Economic, Scientific, and Technical Cooperation.
The meeting resulted in a signed protocol outlining initiatives for further exchanges. Key highlights include:
-
Inter-Museum Collaborations: Efforts to establish ties between the State Russian Museum and Cuba’s National Museum of Fine Arts, which features a virtual branch of the former.
-
Film Exchange: Plans to enhance the sharing of archival films between the Gosfilmofond State Film Archive in Russia and the Cuban Institute on Cinematographic Arts and Industry, alongside cooperation in animation.
-
Creative Education: Continued dialogue will promote projects between educational institutions in both nations and expand opportunities for Cuban students to engage in Russian creative universities’ programs.
