Dan Houser, co-founder and former head writer of Rockstar Games, is set to unveil his next video game projects at his new media company, Absurd Ventures. Recently, he shared details about two upcoming titles: one is an open-world comedy focused on character memory, while the other is a dystopian sci-fi narrative about a rogue AI stemming from a dysfunctional development team.
Absurd Ventures, launched in 2023, is developing various screen-based projects alongside the games, including graphic novels and podcasts, to create a rich transmedia experience. Houser emphasizes his desire to innovate rather than be influenced by other games, managing this by steering clear of popular titles during development.
While anticipating the release of “Grand Theft Auto VI” on November 19, he acknowledges the inevitable comparisons to his previous work but maintains that his focus is on creating meaningful content. Ultimately, Houser seeks to produce work he is proud of, valuing the creative process over market success.
