The Iowa Wild are set to kick off their AHL season on October 2 against the Texas Stars. This season marks the debut of Stu Bickel as head coach, which is particularly significant as it represents a homecoming for Bickel, who previously played for the Iowa Chops and Iowa Wild.
With five years of assistant coaching experience at Coachella Valley Firebirds, Bickel is expected to bring a fresh, energetic approach to the team. Despite finishing with one of the worst records last season, players are optimistic about the new coaching perspective—highlighting Bickel’s quickness and youthful energy. Additionally, the team features several imposing players, including some over 6 feet 5 inches tall.
