Activision’s Ricochet Anti-Cheat team has announced plans for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, particularly the introduction of server culling to help combat wallhacks. Wallhacks enable players to see opponents through walls by capturing location data. Server culling will prevent the server from sending this data when opponents shouldn’t be visible, making it harder for cheat software to function.
To support this, Infinity Ward is designing each map with additional occlusion layers, allowing the server to filter unnecessary visibility data. This system will also be implemented in DMZ and Combat Outpost modes and future maps for multiplayer and Warzone starting in Season 1.
Modern Warfare 4 is set to release on October 23rd for multiple platforms, including PC, Xbox, PlayStation 5, and more. KitGuru hopes other developers will adopt similar measures to tackle cheating in online gaming.
