Eisenhower Football Faces Tough Challenge Against North East
The winless Eisenhower football team is preparing for a challenging match tonight against North East. Head coach Jim Penley describes North East as “an incredibly well-coached team that plays very disciplined on defense and is scheme sound on the offensive side.”
Leading the Grape Pickers is senior quarterback Bryson Galloway, noted for his dual threat as a runner and passer. Galloway has accumulated 461 passing yards and added 224 rushing yards this season. He’s not alone, as senior running back Ethan Ringer has rushed for 507 yards over 78 carries, scoring six touchdowns.
North East (3-2, 2-1 in Region 3) also boasts talented receivers, with seniors Jayden Wittman (18 catches, 242 yards, 3 TDs) and Colton Owens (12 catches, 184 yards) posing a significant threat.
Despite improvements, the Knights (0-5) continue to struggle with turnovers and penalties. Eisenhower’s offense is led by quarterback Joe Gigliotti (26 of 54, 242 yards, 2 TDs), running back Nolan Gesing (86 carries, 492 yards, 3 TDs), and wide receiver Ollie Boozer (13 catches, 129 yards, 1 TD). The Knights’ defense is anchored by senior linebacker Bryceton Coleson and defensive end Carson Sobkowski.
Penley emphasizes that discipline will be crucial to counter North East’s option run game and passing attack. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at North East High School.
Warren Falls at Oil City
In another game, Oil City showcased a formidable defensive performance, defeating Warren 57-0. After initially trailing 21-0, Warren’s Cam Hagg intercepted a pass at the goal line, but Oil City’s defense quickly forced a three-and-out, allowing them to continue their scoring spree.
The Oilers scored on their first drive of the second half, triggering a running clock for the remainder of the game. Warren will return to action next week at 7 p.m. when they host the Franklin Knights for homecoming.
