Eden Park Wins Third Battle of the Bands at Bourbon Theatre

The all-girl band Eden Park triumphed at the University Program Council’s third Battle of the Bands competition held at the Bourbon Theatre. Lead singer Julia Haller expressed her excitement, saying, “I’m just feeling so incredibly grateful and lucky to be here.”

The event featured five student bands, including FoxBody, Car Bar, Drew Phillips Band, and Figuring It Out. With a record-breaking number of submissions, the competition proved fierce, offering a first-place prize of $750 and a runner-up prize of $500.

Eden Park’s set included covers of Rihanna’s “Umbrella” and “Take Me Away” from Freaky Friday, complemented by their original songs “Oh My God (OMG!)” and “Self-Fulfilling Prophecy.” The band engaged the audience with bubble wands and friendship bracelets before performing.

Notable performances included Figuring It Out’s energetic cover of “Everlong” by Foo Fighters, and FoxBody’s powerful rendition of “War Pigs” by Black Sabbath. Car Bar impressed the crowd with their original songs and a playful cover of “Stacy’s Mom,” while Drew Phillips Band closed the event with a sing-along to “Mr. Brightside” by The Killers.

FoxBody was named the runner-up, with bassist Jacob Williams reflecting on the fun experience and the talent showcased by all bands.

In the end, the night celebrated the creativity and musical spirit of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln community.
