Victoria Monét’s ‘Frequency of Love’ seeks to achieve the perfect sound resonance.

Victoria Monét on Her Upcoming Album and Career Journey

NEW YORK – Victoria Monét is back with new music after a three-year hiatus. She doesn’t mind if some label her upcoming album a comeback, noting the importance of taking time to craft her creations. In an interview with The Associated Press, the three-time Grammy winner emphasized the value of allowing life to inspire her work.

“I’m OK with people asking for more music or feeling like, ‘Dang, I missed her,’” she said. Monét’s latest project, “Frequency of Love,” features 22 tracks and includes heavy hitters like Bruno Mars, SZA, Bryson Tiller, Leon Thomas, and Chlöe Bailey.

The album is characterized by singles such as the upbeat “Reach Out” and the slow jam “Let Me,” which has already topped Billboard’s adult R&B airplay chart. Monét’s focus on love—both personal and universal—shines through the music, with themes reflecting her experiences and hopes for the world.

Influenced by Michael Jackson’s innovative artistry, Monét aimed to bring a similar risk-taking spirit to her work. While she acknowledges comparisons are inevitable, she clarifies, “I did not make ‘Thriller.’ I just made my version of what I would make with that mindset.”

Despite her Grammy wins this year, Monét is aware of the pressure that comes with fame. She remarked on the duality of support and criticism that can arise when one’s profile rises.

On the creative front, Monét, who has written for various artists, is also pursuing her passion for cooking. Recently, she graduated as the top student from the Institute of Culinary Education, expressing a desire to explore culinary arts as an act of rebellion against conventional definitions of success.

Monét’s upcoming tour in support of “Frequency of Love” will visit 27 North American cities beginning in late October, as she continues to balance her musical career with her culinary ambitions.

As she reflects on her journey, Monét emphasizes gratitude, striving to embrace a mindset that appreciates both her past and future. “It’s really been a journey to come to a place where I can operate in that shift,” she shared, highlighting her intent to move forward with positivity.
