Unique Coffee Experience at a Serbian Café: Savor It with Alpacas!

A cafe in northern Serbia, the Tiganjica Ethno-Village resort, now features six alpacas as its unique hosts. These South American animals, which are friendly and calm, roam among guests at the cafe, allowing visitors to interact with them. The concept was inspired by a similar cafe in Slovakia, according to owner Zoran Ostojin, who wanted to introduce alpacas to Serbia.

Visitors can prearrange their visits for about 10 euros (around $11.35), which includes a drink and alpaca food—carrots, lettuce, and apples provided by the cafe rather than personal snacks. Six distinct alpacas entertain guests, each with its own personality. For instance, a black alpaca named Ljubica is described as grumpy, while Snezana, the smallest, leads the herd.

Simona Frangi, the alpacas’ carer, notes their sensitivity to human intentions, with the animals approaching those who offer kindness. Ostojin’s family has a history of caring for injured animals, and he has grown fond of alpacas since receiving the first one as a gift from the Belgrade Zoo eight years ago, appreciating their calming energy.
