Four civilians, including a child, were killed and eight others injured in attacks in and around Kyiv. Additional reports indicated three more fatalities across the country.
In response to these strikes, the state power grid operator, Ukrenergo, enacted emergency power cuts in Kyiv and three surrounding regions—the first of its kind since spring. DTEK, Ukraine’s largest private energy firm, managed to restore service to 8,000 customers on Kyiv’s left bank.
Prime Minister Serhii Koretskyi noted that attacks on energy infrastructure have been a daily occurrence since summer, but such a large-scale assault had not been seen since the end of the previous heating season.
President Volodymyr Zelensky reiterated his plea for increased air defense support from international partners, emphasizing that every interceptor missile can save lives, particularly as winter approaches. He stressed the urgency of thwarting Russia’s missile and drone attacks.
