On August 20, 2026, Forest Forward unveiled its latest installation, “For The Culture,” created by artist Jessica Bell. Situated at Constantin Corner on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, this sculpture commemorates the creativity and resilience of South Dallas.
The project symbolizes a revitalization of the historic Forest Theater, aiming to restore it as a hub for arts, culture, and education in the community. Elizabeth Wattley, CEO of Forest Forward, and Jiles King, Artistic Director, discussed the deeper significance of the piece and how it reflects the community’s heritage.
The event featured performances, including operatic soprano Erika Nicole, and encouraged guests to engage with the artwork by sharing personal interpretations of the phrase “For The Culture.”
Looking ahead, the historic Forest Theater is set to reopen on November 1, 2026, with a community celebration featuring live entertainment and local vendors, signaling an exciting new chapter for South Dallas.
