Rivian has announced a new feature called Pet Cam, which will be available for R2 vehicles with the upcoming software update in October. This feature builds on the existing Pet Comfort Mode, allowing pet owners to check in on their pets while away from the vehicle.
Key Features of Pet Cam:
- Live View: Once Pet Comfort Mode is activated, users can access a live view of the cabin through the Rivian app.
- Snapshots: The app will send snapshots to your lock screen every minute, providing quick updates on your pet’s status.
- Comfort Control: Pet Comfort Mode maintains a set temperature inside the cabin, showing climate info on the center display for passersby to ensure pets are comfortable.
Important Note: R1 vehicle owners will not be able to use Pet Cam as it requires specific hardware not available in R1 models.
Jose Castillo, the founder of RivianTrackr and an experienced Rivian driver, anticipates using the lock screen snapshots frequently for convenience while shopping. He will share more details once the update rolls out.
