Israeli national David Driham, 51, known as “Dudu,” was arrested again in Anjuna, Goa, for allegedly staying in India without valid travel documents. This detention is immigration-related and not linked to new drug offenses, although Driham has ongoing proceedings related to a cocaine case since June 2025. Driham, previously dubbed an “Israeli drug baron” in a 2010 drug case, claimed that police had planted drugs; he was cleared of those charges after a prolonged investigation.
Upon being checked by police, he could not provide valid travel documents, leading to his detention. Although arrested in connection with a cocaine case earlier this year, he was released on bail due to procedural issues. In December 2025, the Narcotics Control Bureau filed a charge sheet against him, and he was released under several restrictions, including surrendering his passport and obtaining permission to leave India. It is unclear how he was expected to produce a passport under these conditions.
Driham’s notoriety in Goa stems from his past legal troubles, particularly a significant drug-related arrest in 2010. Despite being discharged from that case in 2023, the police officers involved in the alleged drug planting are currently facing trial.
