1990s Hollywood Heartthrob Captivated Princess Diana—Prince William Shared This During a Private Encounter

Kevin Costner has had many memorable roles, but one of the most surprising potential co-stars was Princess Diana. According to Costner, she had a crush on him and was interested in acting in a film.

In a recent interview, Costner shared that Prince William once told him, “You know, my mom kind of fancied you.” This revelation ties into a film project that Costner had in mind before Diana’s tragic death in 1997. He was developing a sequel to his successful film The Bodyguard, where he wanted Diana to play a role specifically written for her. The plot involved her as a royal threatened by paparazzi and stalkers.

Costner mentioned that they had discussed the film, including a kiss scene, and that Diana had expressed interest. Remarkably, Costner received the script for the sequel on August 31, 1997, just before Diana’s untimely death.

Costner ultimately decided not to pursue the sequel, saying he couldn’t imagine replacing Diana. The project remains one of Hollywood’s great unrealized potentials, showcasing how a collaboration between a blockbuster actor and a beloved royal could have given Diana a new chapter in her life.
