Duke Energy Indiana is collaborating with the Greater Columbus Economic Development Corp. to promote a notable industrial site in Taylorsville through its 2026 Site Readiness Program. This program focuses on preparing promising business and industrial locations to attract high-quality economic investments nationally.
Stan Pinegar, president of Duke Energy Indiana, emphasized the necessity for communities to have competitive, development-ready sites, which are crucial for attracting new employers and enhancing local economies.
The Taylorsville Industrial Park spans several properties totaling between 21.5 to 68 acres and is strategically located near U.S. 31 and Interstate 65. It’s adjacent to the newly opened Grillo’s Pickles facility and a proposed Kings Hawaiian manufacturing site, enhancing its appeal.
Officials believe that this site presents valuable regional and interstate connectivity within one of Indiana’s rapidly growing manufacturing areas. With all major utilities readily accessible, the site offers a flexible layout suitable for independent or larger industrial development.
Maclyn Benedict from the Greater Columbus Economic Development Corporation noted that this initiative could foster sustainable growth while benefiting the local community. Since 2013, Duke Energy’s Site Readiness Program has successfully prepared 53 properties, leading to over 10,300 new jobs and nearly $15 billion in capital investments in Indiana. In total, Duke Energy has facilitated $22 billion in investments and more than 17,000 jobs across the state in the past five years.
