Klaus Zellmer to Become CEO of Volvo Cars
Klaus Zellmer, a former top executive at Porsche North America, will take over as the president and CEO of Volvo Cars on October 1, 2027, following the retirement of current CEO Håkan Samuelsson. The announcement was made in a press release dated September 20.
Zellmer brings over 30 years of experience in the automotive industry. After previously serving as CEO of Škoda Auto, he holds a degree in business administration and has worked in various leadership roles within Porsche. His extensive background includes positions such as CEO of Porsche USA and responsibilities at Volkswagen Passenger Cars.
Eric Li, the chairman of Volvo Cars, highlighted Zellmer’s combination of automotive expertise and international leadership experience, making him a good fit for navigating the company’s transformation and market challenges.
This leadership change comes as Samuelsson has recently announced a significant product initiative, with plans to introduce 13 new models to double the company’s profit margins. Samuelsson has led Volvo in two separate tenures, focusing on strategic growth during challenging times.
